Burned a VL-5.1-std CD but got CRC error

I burned a VL 5.1 std CD and checked it with MD5.

The check sum value came back correct.

I then booted the CD and pressed F1 to boot: sata
"Uncompressing Linux...
crc error
-- System halted"

I've burned a CD twice and had the same result.
I also burned a VL 5.1.2 Live Cd and it worked fine.

Has anymore else had this problem? Got a fix?

Bob

I had the same problem, and then tried the scsi-kernel (which worked perfectly on my P2 ThinkPad), because it states that it's necessary with SCSI disks and old CD-devices... You aren't by any chance using an old CD-device?

Zenlord,

You were ... says the "grasshopper" I was able to install at boot: scsi

My CD device was built in with my laptop... vintiage 1995

I updated the BIOS a couple of months ago and it's been perfect so far.

Not sure why boot: sata has a problem. Maybe the Victor people will read this note I also posted it on their forum. No reply as of yet.

Thanks for the help!
Bob

Grasshopper is a "newbie" toward the Linux ZenLord!

It's an American TV show reference ... Since you are "ZenLord"

Frame it, it won't last for ever!

Thanks again,
Bob
