Logitech Anywhere MX2. Bluetooth pairing or Unifying Receiver

Hello everyone!

I installed Mint the day before yesterday - no previous experience of linux at all. As much of a noob you can get. Since installation was done I've been trying to get my mouse to work. My gf's MS mouse connected with wireless usb worked right away. However my logitech mouse, that I love dearly, just wont work. I booted ubuntu from a usb with the same result.

It can connect through bluetooth - and it is detected and connected but won't pair whatever I do.

I also can connect through the Logitech Unifying Receiver USB. That does not work either.

I tried the support chat, spent hours and hours reading through forums and whatever I could find on google. A lot time in the terminal typing things I have no idea what they do getting error messages of different types. Python-related files that were needed (dependencies) and that I couldn't find - or c-files. Some Xenial error as well.

Here is some stuff that I've looked at - without success

Also a bunch of dependency related pages where I didn't manage to download the correct files.

Is there a fairly easy fix for this? I just don't have the skill to properly hunt down a solution. I'd rather not part from my loved and pretty expensive mouse. Or buy a new for that matter.

I have to say, the things I heard about "These days it couldn't be easier - you don't even have to open up the terminal" (bash?) was somewhat exaggerated :P If I can somehow solve this, I hope the rest will be easier.
